I am currently in the middle of reading the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. Today I finished Prince Caspian and began The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and like always, I can't wait till I get to the end.
In Prince Caspian, I love the way Aslan speaks to others. Especially when Aslan and his entourage are going through the towns picking up followers on the way.
"You'll stay with us, sweetheart?"
"Now, dear heart."
"Yes dearest."
It is amazing how strong, wise, and fierce Aslan is, yet he can be so gentle. I know in the Bible there are verses that describe God in these exact adjectives (strong, wise, fierce, and gentle), but I never was able to really see what that might look like. This is why the Chronicles of Narnia have been ultra cool...not only are they well written stories, moreover they paint a very clear picture of God to me with great examples.
It rules!
I always seem to forget the gentle part of God. I grew up for half of my life in a church that was focused more so on the fierceness of God. In my family we were taught it was good to fear God. Although I agree, I think this mentality has created a road block in my spirituality to accept God's gentle side. I guess that is the reason Aslan's sweet responses hit home for me.
Here's some cool verses that coincide a bit with what I'm trying to get across...
"They will follow the Lord; he will roar like a lion. When he roars, his children will come trembling from the west." Hsa 11:10
"Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Mat 11:29
P.S. For all you English fanatics out there, I know the book titles should be underlined, but apparently that is not an option in blog land. : )

Those verses are awesome, especially the roaring one. I love the way you express yourself in writing, so thanks for blogging, girl who is God's dearheart!
From some geeky English site:
"Titles of longer written works are underlined or italicized.
Longer written works include books, full-length plays, films, longer musical compositions, and periodicals. "
So you're good to go.
I'm enjoying the posts too. Keep it up!
