Uncomfortable Situation

Last Wednesday I spent my time either at the hospital or at a hotel. My mom was having surgery for breast cancer- so I was either at the hospital with her and my dad, or at a hotel with my brother and sister. Here is a dialogue between my brother and I that must be shared. FYI: My brother is 9 years old-almost 10.

Adam: My friend's dog has dandruff.

Me: Really? I didn't know dogs can get dandruff.

Adam: Yeah. (pause) He doesn't have any testicles.

Me: (seriously trying to stay calm) Oh... so he is neutered?

Adam: What does that mean? Like, cool?

Me: No, it means when animals can't have babies.

Adam: The dog is a BOY! He can't have babies!!

Me: Oh good! (turning my head so he wouldn't see me laughing)

I hope he doesn't go to school this week saying, "That's so neutered!" Instead of saying, "That's so cool!" I also hope he doesn't ask anyone why I thought this boy dog could have babies. Aye!!
